OLDTIME BLUES & BOOGIE DUO (Allemagne)
Ignaz NETZER (voc, gtr, harp)
Thomas SCHEYTT (piano)
After having played since their begining in 1986, the OldTime Blues & Boogie Duet gained an exceptional position in the European blues scene within the last few years. This is proved by more than 100 concerts a year in Germany and abroad, a huge amount of fans and getting most enthusiastic press. Their acceptance within jazz promoters is proved by the invitation, as the first classical Blues band worldwide, to the most famous German OLDTIME JAZZ FESTIVAL at the Europa-Park Rust in june 1999, promoted by the radio broadcasting SWR. One yera later this was repeated and the band won the Audience Award.
One of the keys to Ignaz Netzer's and Thomas Scheytt's success since their beginning in 1986 is on the one hand their original interpreting of the old blues masters by making them feel "alive" and on the other hand their deep respect for the wonderful tradition of Afro-American music. And they were the first duet in Europe to start playing the music of the most creative epoch of piano/guitar duets which died out in the USA during the early 40's.
Ignaz NETZER (born in 1957) started his first blues band at the age of 13 and can be heard on stage since 1971 having concerts with Alexis Korner, Louisiana Red, Champion Jack Dupree and many others. He published 10 CDs.
Thomas SCHEYTT (born in 1960) is one of the most demanded piano players in Europe also performing with his band Boogie Connection. He published 8 CDs
