CleMaRic-The Shake the Lake Boogie Boys (AUSTRIA)
Clemens Vogler (born in 1970), Markus Brandl (1963), and Richie Loidl (1967) are from one of the most beautiful areas in Austria, close to Salzburg, where Mozart lived. Apart from their occupations (hotel trade, architecture, publicity), these three accomplices have devoted themselves with passion to boogie-woogie since the eighties. After studying traditional piano, they tried to inspire themselves from the style of the genuine "Boogie-boys", that is to say, Albert Ammons, Meade Lux Lewis and Pete Johnson, whose repertories extend from the authentic blues to their own variations of jazz and funk, including Barrelhouse-boogie, Ragtime and Harlem stride.
Clemens discovered Boogie woogie with "Mr. Pinetop`s Boogie" by Mr.. "Pinetop" Smith, Marcus discovered it with "The How Long Blues" by Leroy Carr and Richie with "The Man Boogie" by Vince Weber.
In Austria, they organize spectacular piano concerts, using for example a flying grand piano tied to a hot air balloon above lake Wolfgang during the "Shake the Lake" Boogie-festival in July 1998. Their motto is: "Let' s shake"! Their trio has always been based on true friendship and this is why they really get through to their audience, no matter whether there are one, two or three pianos.
