Michael MAASS (GERMANY (Allemagne))
Michael Maass, born in 1964 in Fläming near Berlin, is a musician.
Mr. Maass, who has learned playing the drums both by studying it at the music academy and by self-education, has a preference for the Blues and the Boogie Woogie and knows the scene from his tours through Europe.
In the summer of 1997 he organized the 1. Blues festival "Blue Wave" on the island of Rügen; then the "Berliner Boogie Session" series started, where Maass has been the host, presenting the show and of course also playing the drums.
He has been the curator of the "Jüterboogie Festival" in Jüterbog since the year 2000 and of the "Mississippi Blues Night" at the Jazz in Town Festival in Berlin.
He mostly plays with Acoustic Blues musicians and Boogie pianists from Europe.
This cooperation has resulted in the release of two CDs: "You know what I mean?" in 2000 with Steve Clayton, and in 2001 "Into it" with Vince Weber, both on the Label Stormy Monday.
The sequel to this series in 2004 is the long-awaited album "live" featuring Henning Pertiet. What is also new is his decision to be both a producer and the drummer of the CD "Cool Step" featuring Paul Orta and Peter Krause.
