Julien BRUNETAUD (FRANCE)
Julien BRUNETAUD starts the piano very young by listening to the classical lessons which his sister took. As an autodidact, JB learns the rudiments and develops a very personal style, taking as a starting point the great names of the blues and the swing.
Very quickly influenced by Otis SPANN, Ray CHARLES, Roosevelt SYKES. his style evolves between the blues and the boogie woogie. At 16 years, he meets Nico Wayne TOUSSAINT, a first meeting which enables him to play in many clubs and European festivals (Jazz in MARCIAC…), and to record on the last two albums of the harmonicist. On the road he meets Big Joe TURNER (bass player of BB KING, Little MILTON, Albert KING…) which engages him on several rounds (Germany, England, Lithuania…). Meanwhile, he accompanies several bluesmen by reputation like Keith B BROWN, Mojo BUFORD, Zora YOUNG.
JB is then called by Dana GILLESPIE who proposes to him a two months tour in INDIA (from Goa to Darjeeling) in company of the London Blues Band. An unforgettable experience and a meeting with Dana very enriching. She invites also Julien to take part in " Music Blues Festival "2003 and 2004 located on a caribbean island. Each year a CD is recorded with caritatif goal at the " basil bar ", thus contributing to the education of disadvantaged children, in the Caribbean.
After these 4 years of tours, JB forms JB BOOGIE quartet, a more personal formula which draws its repertoryin the blues of Willie DIXON as well as in the swing of Count BASIE. The quartet is composed of Anthony STELMASZACK, a very experienced guitarist (with a devastating swing). On the double bass, Thibaud CHOPIN which is also the bass player of Benoît "blue" Boy, and Fabrice BESSOUAT the drumer, is also the drumer of Mr. Boogie Woogie (Alias Erik Jan Overbeck from Holland) and LISA OTEY.
Influenced by Fats DOMINO, Otis SPANN, Count BASIE and Fats WALLER, you will understand quickly that with JB BOOGIE, the jazz and the blues do only one!.
