Christoph STEINBACH (Autriche)

Christoph Steinbach, was born on the 24th of December 1977. At the age of 6 he first started taking lessons on a classic piano. On an old Viennese Piano he practiced day and night. As he turned 14 he spend all the money he had on his first electric-piano. Unfortunately, as a student, his pocket money wasn't enough to buy an acoustic-piano. At the age of 16, he got his first ragtime vinyls. Mixed within these records there some from Axel Zwingenberger and Vince Weber (which he still enjoy listening these days). The significant rhythm of boogie-woogie made change his piano style promptly. As soon as the boogie-woogie touched his heart, Classical music died for him. Still, to this day, he is convinced that boogie is the best thing that could have ever happened to the world, just like he thinks that his hands are the best thing that could have ever happened to him!!!!!!!!! Finally he was able to through these damn notes out of his life. From this point on he was able to play the music from the inside… from the heart. He sat hours in front of his piano and the record player, listening to vinyls from Pete Johnson, Mead Lux Lewis and Albert Ammons. Over and over again he repeated certain parts from these breathtaking songs. Soon after he met his future drummer "Armin Gurschler". Some of our practices lasted days, but he still could not get enough boogie. They started to play our first gigs in Kitzbühel. When he turned 17 he quit taking lessons at the music school. The gigs got more and more and they started to take some money for them. The money made it possible for him to change his occupation to a half time job. He started to drive all over the country to hear the best boogie & blues pianists play. Some of them included Axel Zwingernberger, Vince Weber, Bob Seeley and Martin Schmitt. Throughout the years he improved rapidly and he started to tour all the way through Austria, Germany, France, Italy, … After he quit his job, he finally decided to dedicate his life to the music and make the tune his full time job.
